Out in the ocean of sand known as the Si Wong Desert lies a massive chunk of rock, it is the only known solid that exists and is not man made. Legend tells that Si Wong Rock was sent down by the powerful gods in ancient times, a symbol to man of their anger and wrath with the nearby settlers. The origin is truthfully unknown, the rock does not look to be completely natural, the surface of the formation of stone is completely flat, though no one has been able to explain why. As he spent his time within the local taverns of Omashu and escorting people through the desert, Wei had often led people to the site of Si Wong Rock, it was a landmark after all, he would explain the legend of the ancient gods and how they placed the rock there, though he had never approached it to close.
The boy however felt as if something had taken hold of him on this day, he felt compelled to venture out to where the stone had been placed and for the first time in his life, venture atop it to truly marvel at it's massive size. It was a 3 hour walk from his uncle's house, Wei's stamina was incredible from the constant walking he had to do within a day and the trip barely took any sort of toll on him, his feet were tough, as was his tolerance for the heat. Throughout the day, he would take small sips of water to make sure his body had enough to continue on, the last thing he wanted was to pass out in the middle of the arid desert landscape. Seconds turned to minutes, minutes into hours until finally; Wei had reached his set destination.
"There you are. Si Wong Rock."
The boy had to admit it felt a little odd talking to a cultural landscape but he felt it was appropriate, there was some sort of spirit that placed it there some time ago, perhaps it still resided within the massive mountain of rock. There was a certain amount of respect that needed to be paid to this monument. Wei let his duffle bag slide off of his left shoulder before bringing his palms together in the certain of his chest, he let himself bow lowly, holding it for a second before standing back up and picking his bag back up. This was where he chose to start his training, the place where the gods themselves had set solid earth would be where he began his training to manipulate and move it. With the knowledge he collected over his journey, Wei shot his hand forward, his fingers piercing the thick stone so that he could begin his climb atop it, one after the other, Wei's fingers and toes shot into the stone, allowing him to climb until he reached the top.
The young earth bender let himself walk around the flat top of the mountain, he never realized just how big it was, he figured he had about 500 meters of space.
"Okay...let's get started."
