Floating Mysticism

Once upon a time...

There was a magical realm that appeared out of thin air. Like, seriously, it just poofed out of nowhere. The inhabitants explained away the existence of basically everything with tales of gods and goddesses, while other people were like, "No way, there's only one god," For some reason, that apparently made more sense, and the world grew under the thumb of the tyrants that claimed it. And then the land was torn asunder by war and pissed off political parties, all the while fighting about who created the place, meanwhile destroying it entirely. Hold on, that doesn't sound right... Oh wait, that was your universe.

We're here to talk about the Mysticverse...

That's the place where this roleplay forum (oh-so-cryptically called "Floating Mysticism") takes place. Well, I've seen many worlds beginnings, but this one was the most fabulous of them all. There was much drinking and merriment and then some guy named Jerry turned on the disco ball and the rest of the night was a blur.



We obviously don't take ourselves very seriously! Consider the Mysticverse to be a running satire on RPGs and the fantasy genre, while still retaining seriously involved lore. Don't think that the roleplay is all silliness! Nah, we just like to keep the beginning stuff loose, the actual roleplay can sober up real fast. Plenty of death and warring and all the depressing stuff that makes up an awesome story! Here's a couple of things you're going to find, should you decide to take up residence here!

• We accept all kinds of characters! It's an anime-lover's dream! You can create your own races, but we also have a few canon races to offer. Ya got the Semplain, the 'human-ish' race that just wants everyone to get along and the formerly enslaved winged Garuda who are STILL pissed at the evil magical girl-type Lolita for taking them captive like, what, THREE AGES AGO. Let it go, dudes.
  
  
  
  
• Mystical Swordsman of Light, this is your place! Our class system is really just a fancy way of giving everyone their own personal title, in the style of the ridiculous titles fantasy/anime characters give themselves. You make your 'class' up from any of the magical and mundane superpowers you can think of and then give it a Power Rank between 1 and 6, which tells how awesome-sauce your character is in a really general, not-that-statistical way.
  
  
  
  
• There's a history! Like, a sequence of events that have led up to this point! It's actually pretty serious. Not everything is fun and games! Feel free to make yourself part of that ever-growing history. Oh and there is a fully functional world with four continents: the floating sky islands, Avalice-Skae, the land plane, dominated by the dusty Mundania and the black forested Soil, and also an underground cave network with enough secrets for the whole realm, referred to as (blandly) the Underworld.
  
  
  
  
• Join an organization! Organizations are basically plot families, which can be created by the members, where things happen. That's right, things happen! There are a few controlled by the staff, like an academy for magic-users, a cult that worships the mysterious ruler of the Underworld, and a council focused on unifying the abundance of races.
  
  
  
  
• Mysterious amnesiac heroes! Come on, it wouldn't be an RPG satire without heroes that can't remember why they have appeared exactly where they are needed. Mysterious strangers have been popping up all over the Mysticverse from other Verses, some remembering more about their past than others. Why? I can't tell you! Figuring it all out is part of the fun.
  
  
  
  
• No word count, really simple character application! It's a jump-right-in kinda roleplay.
