Name: Siku
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Nation: Southern Water Tribe
Physical Appearance:
Siku has creamy umber brown skin and a gaunt facial structure with high cheekbones and a squared jaw. His hair is deep black and is more fluffy that the usual coarse texture of his ethnicities hair. He also has chin strap facial hair and quite a bit of hair on his chin, although he keeps his lip shaved because he hates his moustache. His frame is rather small, and he would be considered to have an athletic build. He stands at only five foot five.
His clothing reflects that of his nation. A thick blue jacket that helps to hide his slender frame, stuffed with polar bear dog fur to help keep him warm. The fur spills out of the hood and at the connecting seams of the jacket, and the coarse hairs can often be annoying and itchy when they make contact with his skin. Under he wears a simple water tribe garb of the same light blue coloring as well as thick fur lined boots.
Equipment:
Siku doesn't carry much in the way of equipment. If he were to ever leave the South he would bring a gourd to carry water in for waterbending.
Combat Skills:
Siku has been practicing phase changing over other disciplines of waterbending. Due to his preference for using ice of water he has developed a great repertoire of attacks that deal with it's use. On the flip side however, his skill with manipulating liquid water seems very stunted and limited to basic water manipulation. Even the most basic of offensive "fluid" techniques such as the water whip are difficult for him unless he is able to catch the moon.
He makes up for this lack with his fantastic array of ice moves. In a snowy climate or near cold water he can seamlessly phase change water into ice, although he has to work harder at when he is faced with warmer water. This makes his skill somewhat relevant to the climate he is in, time of day, and the season that the world is currently in.

Siku is most powerful when he is surrounded by snow and ice. In this kind of climate he can perform a select few very advanced moves that deal with ice. (and all below)
Ice prison: This technique covers an opponent in a prison made of ice. By finely controlling the position of the person within, this technique can restrict the motions of an opponent's hands, thus rendering them powerless. Shown by Katara to incapacitate Azula during Sozin's Comet.
Ice dagger: Much like ice claws, ice daggers form on a waterbender's fingers and shoot at high speeds away from him or her. Katara used these against Master Pakku.
Ice ramp: Waterbenders can manipulate ice as a means of short transportation, as seen by Katara when training with Aang and Toph. It was also used in the liberation of Ba Sing Se, as well by Katara in The Promise trilogy.

In a more temperate climate or in a hotter climate at night Siku is unable to perform the above moves quickly enough for combat (if at all) and is limited to all below moves.
Ice disc: A waterbender can create a cylindrical column of ice and proceed to slice razor-sharp sections of it off and send them at an opponent. They are sharp around the edges but also thin, since Master Pakku was able to break them with his wrists, though this may partly have been due to his waterbending ability.
Ice shield: A waterbender can freeze an amount of water in front of them, creating a shield of ice. Aang and Katara performed this technique on numerous occasions during the War.
Ice spear: The ice spear is a waterbending move shown to have been used by Southern waterbenders. It involves freezing a stream of water and sending the frozen result flying at the target. This move was used by Katara when she was about to strike down Yon Rha.
Ice hook: Waterbenders, if creative enough, may form a hook out of ice which they can use to climb vertical surfaces. Ming-Hua bent ice hooks to climb up the walls of P'Li's prison while carrying her.

In hotter weather than this Siku's ice abilities are much weaker and while he can try to perform mid-tier moves it often takes him a quite a lot of time to harden the ice to a point that it could be used as a weapon (Unless it is night time in which his waterbending is naturally better). He can still perform two moves rather easilyt hat don't require the ice to be hard and sharp.
Ice creeper: A waterbender can send a ray of ice on the ground, speeding at an opponent to freeze them. This technique freezes a trail of water beginning with the waterbender performing the move and ending with their targets freezing. This technique was first performed by Katara when she accidentally froze Sokka's feet to the ship, before she was able to freeze three Fire Nation soldiers. Kya used this technique in her fight with Zaheer.
Breath of ice: A waterbender can use their breath to rapidly freeze objects, such as metallic chains, or an opponent.

Talents:
Siku's favorite pass time is surfing; using ice as a surfboard he will spend any amount of time he can on the shores of Whale Tail Island where the waves are incredible and he dosn't have to deal with novices asking him for advice. Recently he met Lin Yun, an air nomad who he came across while he was at the Island (which technically falls within air nomad territory.) Siku taught the air nomad how to surf (although for some reason he perfered a wooden board to that of Siku's ice board) and they occasionally meet up at the island to hit the waves.
Siku is also pretty excellent at making ice sculptures, a talent he learned from helping to create homes for tribesman in his community and maintaining the walls of their villages. He now does it leisurely and spends hours of his time making frigid monuments of Southern Water Tribe ladies, polar bear dogs, and the occasional mocking statue of one elder or another.
Flaws:
Siku's struggles with liquid based waterbending attacks has made his abilities with ice plateau. If he would focus upon the basics as most waterbenders do he could likely increase his skills exponentially. Having grown stubbornly attached to the more quick and sharp movements that come with phase changing ice, Siku seems to loathe the more calm and tranquil form of bending actual liquid. Although he has gotten the art of manipulating water down, he just seems to lack the patience to learn more graceful attacks and doesn't see the value behind learning these forms because he lives in an environment where he is surrounded by snow and ice. He also took a stab at learning to heal for a time, but it didn't seem he had the gift so he went back to his rigid focus on ice attacks.
As awesome as ice can be it is much harder to form and control outside of the confines of the climes of the North and South. Siku's abilities are considered exceptional in his frosty home, but if he were to leave for a warmer climate he would find himself on a lower footing than a more well-rounded waterbender. Having never left his homeland, Siku isn't even really aware of the flaw and even jokes about how silly other water benders are for devoting so much time to learning to "splash each other with water."
History:
Siku was born in the Southern Water Tribe and he has never left the isolated frozen wasteland. His father is a simple fishermen who has no bending talent, and he wasn’t even a warrior. His mother is a daughter of one of the council elders, although she lived in the eye of shame for marrying such a lower class man whom she loved. Due to the low status of their household, Siku grew up on the outskirts of a small village in a tiny hut. He is the youngest of four brothers and three sisters.
Buniq was the eldest daughter and was already in her late teenage years when Siku was born. Although early on in his life he viewed her as almost a second mother, she went off to marry and he has rarely seen her. Although they are affectionate to each other on reunions it is awkward for Siku who doesn’t really remember her and dislikes her husband.
Iluq was the second oldest and the first born son of his family. He was a skilled water bender and all of the kids in the family looked up to him. He was a happy and caring teacher who helped his brothers and sisters out as much as he could. Siku looked up to him the most, and a lot of his personal identity is a reflection of who his brother was combined with Siku’s own deep rooted insecurities. Illuq became a warrior and quickly rose up the ranks to become a ranger. One day a water tribe warrior came out to visit Siku’s family, bringing back the bone goggles that his brother had once worn and that Siku wears today. He had met his fate on a patrol, freezing to death in one of the worst blizzards in recent memory.
The next oldest were Sesi and Sakari, female identical twins that are six years older than Siku. Although they have matured over the years, Siku can still remember their unrelenting teasing and how unaffectionate that they were when he was a child. To them he was just another brat that they had to take care of. Both have remained local, and they still poke playful jabs at Siku and his other brothers.
Asiavik was four years older than Siku, and in Siku’s eyes he was the biggest tyrant of his young life. Asiavik seemed to be a bit jealous of the younger boys in the family who got more affection from their mother. He was a bully and a hog, he would often steal food from his younger siblings whenever he could. Today, to Siku’s enjoyment, the non-bender has become a regular old water tribe warrior who will likely never see any kind of promotion.
Lastly, the brother closest to Siku in age is his brother Ulva, who is only two years older. He was Siku’s playmate and partner in crime. Together the two young benders would gang up on Asiavik to get him back for his injustices. Always competing, Siku and Ulva eventually grew apart from one another as time went on. Ulva always beat Siku at everything growing up, and this made Siku very upset. However, unlike Siku, Ulva had very little ambition and is now a simple fishermen just like his father. He even erected a few more buildings outside of their father and mother’s home and he still lives right beside mom and dad, and has a wife and kid of his own. Siku loves to passive aggressively rub in how much he has surpassed Asiavik whenever he visits.
Ever since his brother, Illuq died, Siku has wanted to become a ranger just like he was. He was able to pass his coming of age ceremony (Ice Dodging) when he was fourteen. Having learned much from his older brother showing and teaching him cool ice moves, Siku grew up with a disinterest in water moves (even though his brother had been a well-rounded bender himself). Still, he spent very little time as a normal water tribe warrior. At the age of sixteen he was recruited into the rangers, a group of Water Tribe Warriors who patrol the wastelands without the aid of others to search for any threats to the Water Tribe. This gave Siku a lot of status just like his brother had, but he soon found out that the job was rather boring. It was still great though, he was recognized for his awesomeness and he could usually use it as an excuse to get out of dumb chores such as fishing to support the capital city.
Personality:
On the surface Siku seems like a very social and pleasant guy. He dolls out lots of compliments, especially to the ladies. Often enough though, his nice guy attitude is just a veil for his very passive aggressive nature. Whenever he disagrees with anyone on anything his retorts maintain the same level of cool and happiness, but an argument with Siku can be very exhausting. At the start of a disagreement he makes witty satirical remarks, and if it continues on and he runs out of things to say he will just continuously repeat the word "yep." until his opponent stops talking. He can never let an argument end without getting the "last punch", and after someone tries to reconcile with him he will reassert his point with belittlement.
"I guess it is just a matter of what you are good at, not everyone can excel at the superior bending forms." is an example of that Siku might say at the end of an argument about using ice verse the rest of waterbending.
His attitude is born out of his status, it is difficult to get recruited as a ranger for the Southern Water Tribe and it is also just as hard to make it at such a young age. He also feels the need to defend himself because he is still such a low ranking member that his superiors often see him as little less than a common warrior. His competitive nature leaves him always trying to prove himself, which has made him a strong bender but has made him somewhat socially awkward. He has a hard time making long term friends and he really can't keep a girl his age happy for more than a day or two before she realizes how immature that he really is. Those friends and ladies that do stick around him for longer than a few days often have to bear the brunt of his "nice guy" criticisms until he ultimately grows tired of the relationship due to the flaws he sees in them.
Despite his attitude Siku can be a joy to be around so long as you are not competing with him. He loves to teach others things and he has a very energetic teaching style, and he isn’t negative at all to begginers (he is usually much more passive aggressive when people get closer to his skill level or are trying to tell him what to do/teach him something). When he first met Lin Yun, he was very helpful in teaching the airbender the basics, but started getting annoyed when the Air Nomad started to excel and use airbending to get better air. Still Siku enjoys surfing with his friend anyways, as he can help out a lot when the winds are dull.
