Rules
1. Content- This site is rated PG-13 in compliance with Proboards standards. Below are the definitions of what is PG-13 and what is considered rated R. Please review the rating guidelines.
If you need a refresher on PG-13 click the spoiler
PG-13– Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13. May contain sex references, up to four uses of explicit language, drug innuendo, strong crude/suggestive humor, mature/suggestive themes, moderately long horror moments, blood, and/or moderate action violence.
R – Contain some adult material. May contain mild or implied sex scenes, prolonged nudity, strong violence often with blood and gore, strong horror scenes and explicit/illegal/prolonged drug use.
2. Linking- Advertise in the appropriate board. You may include a link to your site in your sig or your name in the chat box. Shock sites will result in a perma ban.R – Contain some adult material. May contain mild or implied sex scenes, prolonged nudity, strong violence often with blood and gore, strong horror scenes and explicit/illegal/prolonged drug use.
Site Guidelines for allowed content- When in doubt, fade the scene to black.
- Romance- Cuddling, kisses, and flirting. Fade to black if things go too far from cute or romantic to being sexual.
- Violence- Killing someone without getting into gross detail about the corpse. Strong interrogations are allowed, but torture should be a fade to black.
- Expletives- Please limit your use of expletives to dialog only, and use it only sparingly.
3. Respect Policy- Arguments will not be tolerated in public and should be handled through PM. Hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated. Disputes that cannot be settled should be private messaged to a staff member.
- Member- The real life person on the other end of the screen. The respect policy applies to them.
- Character- The fictional person that a member of the site is writing about in the story. The respect policy does not have to apply between two characters.
4. Chat- The Cbox is for members of the forum and guests who are considering joining the role play. It is not a place to advertise. The Cbox is out of character and must follow the sites PG-13 rules and our respect policy.
5. Spoilers- Any spoilers that are not related to the current timeline need to be in spoiler tags. This includes things from the actual show other than flashbacks and information about life before the 100 year war.
Spoilers go here.
6. Karma- The karma system is just for fun. It tracks your characters "alignment". Give negative karma when a character does something "evil" and positive when a character does something "good".
7. Staff- If you are not a staff member, a gentle reminder of the rules is as far as you should confront a rule breaker. Inform the staff of any serious infractions or let us know if the issue persists after you give a respectful warning.
Role Play Rules
1. We are an intermediate role playing game. No word requirement. Your post needs to be a 5 sentence paragraph with a dialog or 2 paragraphs.
2. God Modding is strictly prohibited. You may not control another characters actions or the effects of your own actions without consent. Conversely you should not be dodging every attack or be impervious to damage. Combat is strictly narrative and the desired outcome should be plotted between the two combatants. If a compromise can not be made a staff member will help to mediate the situation. It is never OK to injure or kill another player without their permission. When you post an attack, post what you intend to happen to the enemy and let the other player determine the outcome.
3. Limited Liquid Time is in effect. You may have as many threads as you can maintain, however they should all be able to logically take place within one season of time. Please save the very end of a season for the admin announcement (End of Spring Event, End of Summer, ETC). You may also participate in "flashback" threads set in the past.
4. There are three thread types. Please use the following naming conventions for threads.
- [Location] "Thread Name" - Anyone may join the thread without permission of the thread writer.
- [Location] "Thread Name" (Private)- Characters may only join with the permission of the thread writer.
- [Location] "Thread Name" (Flashback)- A flashback is set in the character's past and otherwise works like a private thread.
- In order to give someone permission to post in a private thread or flashback, please use the tagging system at the bottom of the post. This is the username of the player, not the display name. See below for directions.
There are 3 ways to easily find out a member's username when posting.
- Hover over any Display Name you see and the member's username will be displayed with the @ symbol.
- If you have started typing a quick reply you can Alt + Click on any Display Name and the tag will be appended to the end of the quick reply message.
- If you are on a composition page you can click the Insert User Link icon. Insert User Link Search for the member by any name and click on the micro profile in the results. The tag will be inserted into the message.
5. Post your role playing thread in the appropriate location. If you cannot find an appropriate sub board in your location post it on the main board for the nation that the location belongs to.
6. Read the character creation rules and plot carefully.
7. Although time is relative, stick to the current timeline that we are in for the present (don't fast forward.) The current season is listed in the news feed and will be updated here. It is currently early Spring, we will post an update when we switch to late spring.
8. Limited location creation rules- It is OK to make up small villages, ruins, and whatnot without permission. If you would like something bigger added in please PM the staff with a request. We may adopt some ideas, but most will be rejected in order to stay within the confines of the Avatar Universe.
9. High level political NPCs- Until positions of the top political leaders are put in play, they will be controlled by the staff. It would be inappropriate for your character to refer to the Earth King has declared that he is going to attack the Fire Nation colonies. These political overlords are protected by the God Mode ruling. Small time magistrates, lieutenants, judges, and judges are not. As a general rule of thumb anyone with the titles King, Lord, Chieftain, Secretariat, High Priest/ Priestess, or Elder are protected by the staff until someone takes them over.
10. Skipping- If it has been 48 hours since the last post you may skip the individual that is being waited on. After one skip if the person does not post again within 24 hours on their next turn you may continue the thread without them.
