"Okay, this looks like a good spot to try it out."
It was late in the afternoon in the Si Wong Desert and Wei had managed to get some time to himself, it was rare that he was not needed to help around but when he could, he used this free time to practice. The boy lived in a tiny village on the edge of the massive ocean of sand, as far as he knew, he was the only child in the entire village and so, he did not have any friends to spend his time with. Wei had wandered away from the collection of houses and found himself climbing atop a medium sized rock formation, it's surface was flat and covered with small pebbles, it made the perfect place for him to try out his bending skills. The boy removed his cloak, no longer needing it as the heat was slowly disappearing as the sun was beginning to descend, he tossed his cloak to the side and closed his eyes, concentrating.
Slowly, he began to let his feet slip from his sandals so that the soles of his feet could feel the cold surface of the rock, so he could feel as if he were a part of the stone below him. As he inhaled, he let his legs move apart to shoulder width, emptying his mind, his chest expanded, letting the silence of his empty mind envelop him into a state of complete zen and meditation. Wei let himself exhale through his nose, feeling a calmness at the silence, it was as if he were listening for the stone, telling him when the perfect time was for him to try and bend it to his will. His hands raised up, his arms tucking into his sides, his hands slowly rolling up into clenched fists as he assumed a horse stance. He did not know how long he stood in his position, time seemed to no longer be a factor in this state of concentration, he could feel his legs beginning to burn.
Like a bolt of lightning, a feeling of urgency rose up withing him, welling up and alarming him to open his eyes, as he did so, Wei thrust his right fist forward and to his surprise, the edge of the rock formation tore itself off and was sent flying forward a distance of about 10 feet before falling to the ground. The boy seemed pleased with what he accomplished but at the same time, knew he was a long way before the use of his technique could be practical in any situation.
"It's not enough...not yet."
Wei slowly moved back into position, wanting to attempt the technique a second time.
