IT'S NEVER ENOUGH
"--and all of a sudden...", silence befell the small group of children at the corner of the tavern. Seven pairs of curious eyes were wide open and directed at the young waterbender, staring so intensely that one would think they were trying to find out the continuation of the story on the inside of the man's eyes instead of his words. Uyarak didn't hold back either. His face had taken on a mask of stiffness and seriousness and he didn't seem like he'd drop the act soon. Ah, how he loved these little moments in his life. Whenever he'd get the chance to tell one of his stories, he'd always throw in a bit of suspense -or, well, a child's idea of suspense- just to see the look on his audience's faces. Having people hanging from your words gave off a pretty good feeling to be honest.
He leaned in a bit, and the little crowd followed his movements wordlessly. A deep breath, and "... the Kyoshi Warriors came out of nowhere and took care of the beast." Disappointed voices arose from the audience. Uyarak grinned and straightened his back. The story actually had more adventure to it than that, but he had to end it somehow. His eyelids were starting to feel heavy and his throat craved water. By now, he'd surely acquired at least a drink for his hard work on occupying the children of the tavern for long enough to prevent any damage to the place. The young man got off his seat and walked away from the mess of playful shouting and walked to an empty table. He had the drink, but what of the bed? It had been a bad day; he'd barely earned enough for his meal and water, but an inn was out of the question.
Thanking the waiter for the free drink, he took a sip of the warm liquid and let out a long sigh. What about tomorrow? What would he do tomorrow? he felt so tired. His whole body ached in the thought of never-ending searching for a temporary job. He'd done everything he could do in the earth kingdom already. He desperately needed a way to get to the Fire Nation, and fast.
