Despite Buzama’s jagged upbringing and dark-skinned father, Buzama’s shade of skin is that of the Earth Kingdom Nobles, thanks in part due to his mother who’s the daughter of a noble family. His skin color however is where his appearance similarities with his mother end. Having gotten his green eyes, tall slender stature, light brown down ridden spiky hair and sense of style from his father. With not much of a muscle tone on his limbs, he strives to keep his abdomen region as toned as possible often maintaining a well-groomed six-pack that he says ‘is just for the ladies’. Last but not least is the, not standing out too much, scar he has below his right eye from which he has given many reasons or theories on how he has gotten it, seemingly coming up with a new reason on just about every occasion.
In terms of wardrobe, ever since his youth he has always strived for a ‘light’ upper body and a ‘heavy’ bottom. Often wearing a off beige undershirt beneath a light green and beige jacket. With a usually green sash tied around his waist, his usual light black pants with green bottom cuffs cut off just below his knees. The bottom is finished off with a pair of green-strapped toe sandals. On his hands he’ll frequently wear light black gloves that cut off on the lower portions of his fingers. Commonly he’ll bang himself up, most often his limbs, and will wrap them up in bandages for a week or two to help try and avoid more injuries while the ones he has heal. Finally, his signature and most prized clothing item his light black hat with a wide green single strip going across and around the bottom, tops off his wardrobe.

Combat Skills: Since the very young age of 4, Buzama’s father had instilled in him the art of earthbending. Due to his father’s stern and rigorous training methods Buzama never had a normal childhood and always spent time training with his father. Due to this, Buzama had the normal basics of earthbending down by age 6. By age 10, Buzama never had a problem with his footwork or the basic earthbending moves and had even started training in more advanced moves thought to be only done by kids nearing the middle teens.
At age 11, his training from his father had ceased and he was left on his own forced to train by himself and further his earthbending progress by either seeing it done and training or through his own painstaking training sessions. Due to being on the streets, he often took many beatings by older more experienced earthbenders which not only toughened him up to take more blows but also made him develop his own style of earthbending focused on fast paced movements and small but very quick earth projectiles. His style of earthbending focused on small hits but many of them and allowed him to wear down his opponent over time rather than going for a big one hit move.
By his current age of 23, he has mastered his own form of earthbending however still only maintains adept level skill because he lacks more ‘earth shattering’ powerful moves as well as not being able to fully blend in his style of fighting with that of traditional earthbending.

History: Buzama was born to a Noble’s daughter and a Dai Li earthbending master. Unfortunately for Buzama his family was soon torn apart as his mother died only two years into his life. Thus he was left solely with his authoritarian father, whom at only age four started to train Buzama intensely in that of earthbending. Buzama’s father’s training methods were callous and brutal and the young Buzama would often go to bed beaten and battered after a full day of training. Devoid of making any friends or having a normal childhood, Buzama’s only thing to do was be trained by his brutalitarian father in the ways ofthe force earthbending. This would continue and by the age of six, Buzama would have the basics of earthbending down pat. Just when he was getting use to his father’s vile training process, once Buzama proved to have the basics down, he augmented his rigid training regimen and the instruction only got more fierce from there.
During all the years of his father’s training, not once did Buzama talk back or question his father’s training. It had been the only thing he new and thus thought others went through the same thing. Because of this, Buzama had little to no reason to even talk and thus remained a mute child doing anything his father said with obedience. As the years went by, Buzama eventually turned ten and had mastered novice earthbending only to have his father then start to train him in more advanced moves that kids six-seven years his elder were learning. Buzama only got a year into the rigid training before one day his father didn’t get him up for their training, instead a Dai Li agent waking him up informing him that his father had died due to ‘unfortunate events’. Buzama was now without a mother or father.
After his only other family, that of his mother’s side of nobles, refused to take him in or deal with him on account of his mute status and seemingly worthless stature he was pushed into the lower sections of Ba Sing Se all alone. Buzama survived the next few weeks scavenging food from dumpsters and tossed out food in the alleyways, sleeping in any alleyway he could find. No one ever seemed to notice him, but then again, he noticed others like him young and old foraging for food and space. One day Buzama came across a kid about his age getting picked on and shoved by two older that looked to be a little older than they both were. When one of the older kids shoved the bullied kid down, he spoke out asking the kid to fight back. Remembering the very same words his father used to train me as if by instinct Buzama slammed his left foot on the ground in front of him and two pillars of earth shot up and connected with the chins of both of the bullies knocking them on their behinds.
The bullies got up; shocked at what they saw having thought the kid they pushed down was the one who earthbended. Turning around they started to run away, tears forming in their eyes as they ran. The bullied kid at first looked confused as well knowing full well he had not been the one to earthbend. Looking around he spotted Buzama, clearly in a earthbending type stance a few feet away. Getting up and dusting himself off the boy made his way over to Buzama. The young earthbender not knowing what to do now just stood there as the boy got to him and spoke. “That was…amazing.. you seem skilled with earthbending, do you think you can teach me to do that? I want to learn earthbending!” Remembering his father’s words and training once more, Buzama spoke for the first time. “To learn one must endure pain. Use that pain to gain a better understanding. Now get up and fight me!” As if by instinct once more, Buzama slammed his back foot this time on the ground and another pillar of earth rose up from the ground stopping inches from the other boy’s chin.
The young boy was shocked and slowly started backing up before turning around and running away. Buzama didn’t know what to do next and was surprised when he felt a sudden hand on his shoulder. He quickly yanked his head around to see whom it was, coming face to face with another boy who looked about the same age as the bullies except this guy had a large smile on his face. Buzama blinked at him but said nothing; the newcomer however did speak up starting with a chuckle. “Hahaha kid that was amazing, did you see the look on those kids faces when you earthbended like that? You got some skills I like that, say kid I know this place a few alleys down that has great shade and sometimes the chief that owns the restaurant across from gives me free scraps that others don’t eat. Having you there would be a nice incentive for defense and I could use a buddy to talk to. Whaddya say, care to enjoy the hidden luxuries of the street urchin with a fellow Sing Se’er?” Buzama didn’t know what to do or think but after a few seconds of silence his stomach seemed to answer for him as it grumbled. Wanting to eat, Buzama nodded his head and the mysterious boy held Buzama by the shoulder and started to lead him to the place.
Buzama would spend many a years with the mystifying boy, whose name Buzama had learned to be Xiao. At first it was a nice change of pace for Buzama who even started picking up the personality of his first ever friend and eating actual food for the first time in weeks. However as they got older so did the bullies they seemed to encounter and Buzama having contracted a weird sense of unlucky luck that he called lucky misfortune, things started to dip on the fun and excitement they had in prior years, At first Buzama was able to hold off maybe one or two bullies however as they grew so did the bullies in both age and experience, especially those that knew how to earthbender. Without a proper master and his lack of training while with Xiao, Buzama’s skills didn’t improve and not knowing how to properly teach earthbending he couldn’t teach Xiao on the art and he would fail miserably at trying to defend both he and his best friend
Coupled with what he went through training on his father’s harsh regimen and the numerous beatings he took from the bullies, his stamina and tolerance to pain had become really high however it still did not help him as much as actual fighting would. Soon though, at the age of fourteen, Buzama started to train and use a bit different technique he himself thought up to battle other earthbenders. Since the traditional style of earthbending required you to be mostly still but deliver powerful blows Buzama needed a way to stay light on his feet while still delivering earthbending moves. Through some rigid training he managed to get this new fighting style down. He called it Kuai Yidong Diqiu or fast moving earth. It involved him dodging and staying away from other’s attacks while pulling up or pulling out small earth projectiles that were really fast such as earth shaped spikes or earth plate like circles. They weren't large enough to do powerful damage on their own however enough of them was like that of a more powerful earth bending move such as a large boulder.
So Buzama relied on this new style to fight multiple other benders, while he saw that he could not fully earth bend powerful boulders and strong defensive walls without having either both his feet or hands touching the ground he saw an immediate change in his ‘win percentage’. Some his style of fighting just caught his opponents off guard while others he had to wear down with his style of fighting to win, and giving his better stamina he often won these long bouts. Things seemed well on their way to a better life for the two still street urchins. However the second good times would not last, at the age of eighteen, a gang of earthbending bandits would encounter the two friends outside the walls of Ba Sing Se. There numbers were far to great for Buzama to handle alone and thus he fell to the gang after only being able to take out two of them. They took there injured as well as kidnapped Xiao and left the severely beaten and injured Buzama to die a few kilometers away from the help of Ba Sing Se.
Through sheer determination alone he managed to crawl far enough for someone near the entrance walls to see him and come to his aid. By this time Buzama was near death and if not for a nearby traveling waterbender who could heal, he would have surely died. The next few days the waterbender let him stay with her in her hotel room. Due to his severe injuries and exhaustion it took him two months to fully recover. Everyday he would ask and listen for any news on the gang and if they still had his friend but everyday was the same answer. Nothing. Even though he knew the answer, even though he had heard it day after day… to hear it anew still made him ball his hands in anger and tears seep down his face. Halfway through his recovery he made a promise to himself, a promise that he would find his best friend…his only friend that he had... his entire life.
Once he had made a full recovery he would thank the woman that had taken care of him and leave Ba Sing Se in search of news and the whereabouts of the bandit gang of earthbenders. For months he traveled the earth kingdom looking and listening for any clues of the gang. What he did hear was often hearsay and never facts. However on the off chance he did get factual information, by the time he got to where the information said they were going to be he was always too late having missed them by either a few hours or a day. It seemed they always stayed one step ahead of him. The thing that kept him going however was the news that they often kept prisoners with them in exchange for supplies and other useful items. During his journey, Buzama hoped that by the time he found the group they would still have Xiao even though that chance was extremely slim due to their prisoner exchange.
On his travels he would still train himself in earthbending opting to the way his father had trained him and even pushed his body to it’s limits many times to the point of passing out with exhaustion. Buzama knew that in order to beat the outlaws he had to become stronger, faster, and smarter. He also knew he had to try and center their attacks to a single portion of his body that was expendable and wouldn’t prohibit his fighting because he could not dodge all their attacks and keep his full body intact. He also had to make sure he conserved his energy long enough to last the entire fight between all of them and consistent dodging drained his energy the most. He concluded that that very point on his body would be the abdomen. So he would begin to train his abdomen to take hits, hard hits and him still be able to fight using his style of earthbending.
While his limbs remained pretty slim yet still had a small muscular presence, his abdomen increased greatly in muscle tone. Two-packed abs turned to four and then four to six and then six to eight, all the way to twelve. It took five months for him to not only train his abdomen but also to finally get a great lead on the gang of bandits that had his friend. A member of the gang was ousted from the group and was holed up in a small cave north of a farming village. Buzama almost immediately started his track up to that cave intent on getting the information he wanted. After several hours he finally made it to the cave around nightfall and saw a small light inside. Trying to use his best stealth skills proved useful at first however his lucky misfortune caught him and he stepped on a rock that he thought was safe however it buckled under his weight and caused a small rock slide alerting the bandit earthbender inside. Grunting at haven given up the surprise element he leaped into the cave and was immediately engulfed in a battle of earthbending with the gang member.
The bandit proved his toughness however Buzama managed to best him when Buzama tripped over a stunted rock dodging an earth move and catching the bandit off guard with such a clumsy mistake as well as earthbending down a small rock from above at the same time and knocking out the bandit. Due to their battle Buzama had to ‘clean up’ the cave and imprison the bandit in a suspended earth body prison, making sure to keep his hands and feet tied up by rock shackles also. Upon the bandit’s awakening Buzama would question him about the whereabouts of the gang. At first the bandit didn’t talk however Buzama’s ‘persuasion attempts’ coerced the man into talking and revealing key information. From what he gathered the bandits had a routine albeit difficult traveling schedule that no one outside the bandits knew exactly. When asked about Xiao he was glad to hear that the bandits had somehow kept him over all this time stating that the teenage boy was ‘quite a handful’ but made the leader chuckle often enough that he kept him around for comic relief.
After getting their timetable down pat and timing up where he was and their next closest schedule appearance Buzama left the cave and the bandit still imprisoned in his suspended earth prison much to the dismay and anger of the outlaw. Buzama had to hurry and stay light on his feet to the next closest spot in order to get there in term. When he spotted targeted village off in the distance Buzama he grinned widely knowing that he had just a kilometer or two to go. However…upon closer approach he saw diminished buildings and juts of earth sticking out of the ground like there had been a huge fight. His heart sank when he came to the center of the village and found a mass of dead bodies piled up. Slamming his fists onto the ground in front of the mass in anger, tears started to rain down his face as he abruptly started to shout in both anger and sadness. After a minute or two the faint sound of his name being called from the side made him look up and turn his head in slow motion. Tears from his eyes were whipped away from his face by a sudden breeze of air but the water marks stains stayed. Right there, about a dozen yards away was a battered, beaten and nearly crushed Xiao.
If it weren’t for the smile the teenager still had on his black and purple face as well as his name being called out Buzama would not have even recognized him. Scurrying over to his greatest companion Buzama knelt down next to him scared to even touch him for fear of causing him to much pain. “Xiao…I’m so sorry…I searched for months for them…for you…should have started sooner than I did but...I laid in bed trying to recover fully so that I’d have enough strength to save you….Come on...you can move right. We’ll get you to a nearby doctor and he’ll fix you right up like what happened to me.” Xiao kept smiling and even chuckled once however grimaced in pain when doing so, finding the strength Xiao spoke up in a harsh soft tone, his words barely understandable. “No….I’m already…gone…Poison in me…causes…so much…pain….but…no death… tried to stop them…the villagers…they tried to defend their home and supplies….but Fenqing…bandit leader…would not…have it…attacked them…killed them all….left me…” Tears started to pour down Buzama’s face once more, he couldn’t believe...no...he didn’t want to. He had to try and save his friend...the only friend he had ever had.
“That…that doesn’t matter now. It’s over… you and me...we can go back home, back to Ba Sing Se… and we can find some good honest work and not live in shacks and shanties anymore…We can-“ Xiao interrupted him with more pain ridden words. “No…theirs…no cure...for the poison…You have to promise me….you’ll always smile...always look at the bright side of things….jokes can….jokes are the best…medicine…No matter how bad…anything can…get….smiling…somehow...helps…Now Buzama…” Xiao coughed hard, the struggle of talking so much started to get to him but he continued. “Buzama…you have to…kill me….the pain….it’s great….death….so peaceful…please Buzama…” Shocked at what Xioa was saying, he refused. He couldn’t...not his only friend. “No…I can’t...I won’t...you can get better. There has to be a sure for this poison. Come on let me carry you I can handle the weight I promise.” Hearing Buzama say he could carry his weight made Xiao chuckle again, however he did not budge in his ideal.
“I know you can Buz…but…I want this….You found me…you didn’t give up…for that...I’m…truly grateful…but now…now I need you to do… one last favor for me…to end your journey…your mission…you’ve almost...succeeded…please…grant me this request…kill me.” Tears still streaming down his face, Buzama would shake his head repeatedly. “No no no...I can’t Xiao...you’ve been the only friend I’ve known...I can’t…I just can’t!” Buzama shouted his last word at his friend in pain. Xiao heavily sighed and then grimaced from the pain in doing so. Still finding the strength to talk he continued to plead with Buzama, even starting to badger Buzama with light hearted insults hoping to pierce the ‘No’ determined earthbender.
“Come on Buzama… you weak fool…how many times have you…defended me…saved me…from bullies….you weren’t weak then….don’t be now…Do it. Do it. Do it.” “No…No…I can’t…” “Do it…you can…Buz….do it… “No…No… yes…yes…Buz…buzzy ol pal.... no No NO. Buzzy…do it…do it NOOOOW!!! NOOARGGHH” Buzama slammed his hand into the ground and produced a giant spike of earth that impaled the screaming body and effort of Xiao. Xiao’s eyes widened yet so did his smile. The boy’s last words that of gratitude and love to Buzama “Thank you…I love you man…don’t forget…what I said…” With his last few breaths spent of talking, Xiao closed his eyes… and was gone…and once again Buzama…was all alone. Crying as the wind picked, a flier slammed into the face of Buzama and taking it from his face he held it in his hand. It wasn’t a flier but just the date of today…it was Buzama’s 19th birthday.
Buzama would spend the next few years as a nomad, since the day of Xiao’s death he took to heart what he said. He was more aloof, smiled near constantly, and always seemed to be in a good joking mood. He also found out that he could not turn down anyone in need, having the event of Xiao’s death looming over him every time someone was in trouble. Even though it often put him in harms way for complete strangers, Buzama knew Xiao would force Buzama to help them out anyway. He would also master his style of fighting a.k.a Kuai Yidong Diqiu however his powerful earth bending moves that were traditional earthbending improved very little as Buzama spent most of his training time keeping his twelve pack abdomen and unique fighting style in shape. Now not having a specific mission or journey in mind, he would just travel across the earth kingdom just for the sake of traveling. He had not returned to Ba Sing Se however since his departure from it before the bandits attacked him and Xiao just outside the city.
Even though he has no set goal in his mind or life now, adventure still manages to find him thanks to his lucky misfortune, which has seemed to increase since Xiao’s death as if it was one last long joke played on Buzama by Xiao from beyond the grave. To his enjoyment, he got word that the bandit group lead by Fenqing had been largely disbanded by a group of fighters that specifically united together to defeat the notorious group. Although the leader, Fenqing, managed to flee he was the only one still on the run from the group and Buzama was confident the group would find and bring him to justice. While one may think it would be part of Buzama’s vendetta to bring the man to justice with his own hands, it was not so for Buzama for his only goal had always been to find and free his friend. In a strange way he did free his friend, albeit not in the way he would have liked but he freed him from the pain that had engulfed him and in Xiao’s mind that was good enough and anything good enough for Xiao was good enough for Buzama.
Personality: As a young child, Buzama was quiet and did whatever his father told him to do without question leading to Buzama being a young mute boy however as he grew up and he went out into the harsh world alone, he adapted to survive however after having his first ever friend be that of a jokester Buzama too began that of a joker. Of course this was also when his run of misfortunate luck began and he soon found himself in all kinds of predicaments and no matter how many times he tries he can never talk his out of a situation only hoping to delay by joking and hope to escape. He’s usually in a cheery mood although being a loner he doesn’t like to be bothered by strangers much especially in the middle of his training.
While he tries his best to keep to himself he can’t help but constantly stumble across those that need help and he instinctively has to help them whether he really wants to or not. In battle he always tries to get inside of his opponent’s head unless he is for sure that the other is immune to his taunting in which case he will remain silent however will still have a smile on his face no matter how hurt or how far he is behind or ahead in the fight. Thanks to his harsh background and rough up bringing it’s quite difficult to get inside of his head and thus he usually remains calm and in control of his feelings and facial expressions in a fight.
When talking to others he often beats around the bush and continues to let loose a joke or smart-alecky remarks about the subject in question. He doesn’t like to remain in conversation to long because he may end up saying something that gets him into trouble. With the lady’s he can come off as quite the pickup liner and doesn't hesitate to show off his always rock hard abs, although this rarely results in him getting the flustered attention of the opposite sex it doesn’t keep him from still trying. When it comes to his past, Buzama has never talked about it nor would he want to although many nights he would stare up at the moon and think back on his pas and more times than often he would think about Xiao his one and only friend he had ever had.

Talents:
- Eye of the Tiger-One of his hobbies happens to be training his earthbending, always looking to improve on not only what he knows but also what others know.
- Funny Bones-While some may not see it as talent he sees his ability to find the funny in almost any situation a great talent that has saved not only his hide quite a few times in the past but also the hide of others as well.
- Tank Athleticism-His ability to weave and dodge is quite odd for him to be a earth bender however his slender figure helps in this aspect as well as his ability to take a number of heavy blows when needed although not being able to deliver many big ones back.
- Training Details-Due to his past training with his father and his own scrupulous training as well as his various travels, Buzama has an eye for various training methods thus giving him an adept eye for divulging a person’s fighting technique after only a short spar or fight.
Flaws:
- Cannot move rapidly and earth bend big boulders or big defensive walls ,has to focus on one particular style of earthbending whether it be power or speed. For power he must have both hands or both feet touching the ground.
- Lucky Misfortune-Ever since he has been on his own at age 11, Buzama has had this 50/50 type of abnormal luck and misfortune. For every strange/odd or unlucky thing that happens to him it’s often countered by an almost immediate strike of good luck. While often, it doesn’t happen to him every time and he’s struck with more bad luck than good.
- Goofiness –Often times his goofiness will either annoy or get him into trouble with other people.
- Curious Buzama-Often times his curious nature gets him into more trouble than he should be in.
- Instinctive Helping Nature- While working as both a flaw and good mechanic, his willingness to help those in need often get the best of him even if he just wants to leave the situation alone. Something inside him almost forces him to help despite his current selfish intentions. Combined with his misfortune, his helpful nature has gotten him into quite a many bad situations.
