Name: Mordred
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Nation: Fire Nation
Physical Appearance: Mordred has natural long brown hair covering his eyepatch slightly with brown eyes though one of them is covered by the eyepatch. A scar left by Linh under his left eye and slight tannish white skin. He wears mostly black on his shirt, pants and cloak. A white skull and cross-bones in the center of the shirt and the cloak. Two golden belt buckles on brown belts holding the Cutlass and Rapier in seperate sheathes.
While the cloak is red on the inside and is folded on the collar as well as some gold lining with brown gloves and black boots to complete it.
Equipment: Cutlass and Rapier: Both of these swords are used seperatly as they both have different styles to them. The Cutlass is a 'Slashing' weapon and the Rapier is a 'Thrusting' weapon. Both swords he uses in battle or when raiding ships.
Black Eyepatch: Standard issue for pirates but in this case it covers up the slash wound on his right eye.
Combat Skills: Swordplay: Mordred uses a rapier and cutlass but has honed his sword skills in the military. He has nearly mastered the use of Rapiers and Cutlasses but other swords are at adept.
Firebending: He has firebending but rarely uses it. He is a adept at best when it comes to firebending. He has control but only over basic fire bending forms.
Talents: Fairness whether it be good or bad.
Due to his etiquette lessons he speaks and acts in a more refined tone unlike most pirates.
Another thing from his etiquette lessons is his refined taste. He knows how to enjoy the finer things in life but also remember the nostalgia of past.
Flaws:
Originally he could see through both eyes but ever since the failed mutiny from Linh he can now only see through one of them.
He always wants fairness whether it be for good or bad.
His firebending is just in the basic fire bending forms and not as polished as his swordplay.
History:
Childhood: As a child Mordred was a gifted young man who had a power beyond that of his own firebending. 'Fairness' was his one and true gift that no normal fire nation boy would usually have. If someone had more food than someone else Mordy would demand they share. If a fight seemed to be unfair or overwhelming Mordy would demand some way to make it fair. Though demands only got him so far and these demands often got him into trouble. Thus his parents sent him to a etiquette class. Which had given them no more demands and no more worries afterwards. Over the years he grew with no demands but with politeness and manners.
Adolescence: As Mordred grew he began to hone his sword skills more than he would train his firebending. A recruiter took notice of this and asked that Mordred be enlisted in military training. His parents thought he needed to express himself better anyways but Mordred did not want to but was forced into it.
His etiquette skills came in handy when faced with a military general who yelled at him at each passing turn on the obstacle course. Before he was enlisted in the army Mordred had enough and ran away during the night shift. He abandoned his home of the fire nation and stole a small boat to get out for good. He had gone far but a nearby ship had picked him up but to his surprise did not belong to the fire nation. It was a pirate ship that spared the young boy from his life in the military. On said ship he lived until the previous captain passed away.
Adulthood: Years later on the vast ocean Mordred was now a feared pirate but also greatly respected due to his fairness to his crew and to others. He had grown much since old man passed away and he was decided to be captain. His watchman cried that a storm was coming. Mordred had felt the rain drop on his hair at a fast pace. The wind was starting to pick up now as the clouds began to form something.
The watchman cried 'Waterspout' and sure enough there it was coming right toward them. Mordred made a desperate move and turned "The Cuttlefish" to the nearest patch of land but in this case it was a swamp filled with nothing but vines and trees. The water spout died down as they got closer and stopped as the spout slammed into a few trees and knocking them down. The spout was gone but now they were lost.
Mordred did not know this area and avoided to hit any knocked down trees and hanging vines that might be in the way. Mordred saw a small patch of land just enough to rest on. Mordred saw a young water bender out here in this swamp.
But her talent to bend the vines is what intrigued him. Mordred ordered his men to take the young girl aboard but not to harm or steal from this little island. Most of the crew trusted his judgement without a complaint others were just whining about it to themselves. Mordred had sympathy for this young girl as she often complained and sometimes yelled at them for what they did. The crew felt uneasy with her around but Mordred told them this girl is an asset to the crew and they calmed down. He had to force the girl to bend the vines out of the way so that they may escape.
As they approached Omashu, Mordred's crew was splitting up the haul they caught from a few water tribe ships beforehand. Mordred had split up the money fairly so everyone would get a share and Mordred handed the last share to the girl who looked at him with hatred in her eyes. Mordred didn't want to hurt this girl anymore than he had already but she was needed here. So Mordred decided to show his crew along with the girl around who looked in wonder at the big city. A faint smile crossed Mordred's lips as he remembered his first time here and he loved everything about it.
As they enjoyed their stay at a fine hotel and ate fine foods the girl now who introduced herself to everyone as Linh slowly became part of the crew. Two years later Linh had tried to pull a mutiny on Mordred.
With only a few crew members on her side and some hired mercenaries she probably bought off she stood not much of a chance. Though it was her ferocity and cunning that got the best of Mordred and his crew. The mutiny almost was a success but Mordred for all these years never revealed he was a fire bender as he often relied on his swordplay. Mordred overpowered Linh with his surprise attack but she slashed him across the face so hard his right eye can no longer see as well as trying to cut off his other eye, but in a desperate move Mordred threw his sword at Linh which got stuck in her arm in which Mordred took out the sword from said arm then cut it clean off. She was later treated and held in the brig for failed attempt at mutiny. The rest of the crew she had hired had either been killed during the mutiny or fired afterwards. After Mordred let her out Linh was given the title 'first-mate' as Mordred was giving her another chance. In which at her station she learned how to form an arm out of vines and water bend with one arm thus proving Mordred right about her.
Mordred wishes that one day he can return Linh to her family for a visit at the least. But as an asset to the crew she is needed here more than ever.
Personality: Refined and Fair but when faced with a uncertain situation like the failed mutiny he tends to act a bit more cruel. Mordred is a man that seeks wealth and fairness above all else. He is kind when he wants to be and cruel only when facing an enemy. He always steals from the richest ships and plunders them but never kills any people if he isn't forced into a fight. Mordred does not wish to spread fear he only wishes to spread fairness with his acts as a pirate. If they were to fear him for their acts who is he to blame them?
