Physical Appearance:
Liu has light skin and intense chocolate brown eyes. He has angular features with straight eyebrows and prominent cheek bones. He is average height for a male and has a muscular build from years of intense training. He keeps his head shaved at all times even though he has not yet earned the arrow tattoos of a master. His lack of hair causes his ears to stand out a little more than usual.

He wears baggy brown pants with boots that come up nearly to the knee. He sometimes wears an orange shawl over one shoulder, but prefers to go shirtless. This is because it allows him to more easily sense the wind currents around him. Liu wears brown leather bracers for defending against attacks. He carries prayer beads which aid in meditation.

Equipment:
Like most air nomads he carries an airbender staff. This is a long staff which unfolds into fan-like glider. The staff is made of hard reinforced wood and the wings are orange. When opened the staff allows him to use his airbending to fly short distances. His airbender staff serves a dual purpose of also being a weapon. In its closed position it serves as a Bo, which is an excellent tool for one who has the intention of knocking an opponent unconscious rather than killing them.

Combat Skills:
Liu is an airbender. He was taught this skill by the other Monks. His most common move is the air shield which he produces by spinning his staff in a circular motion. He also uses the air blast which is a jet of high pressure air that pushes back an opponent. In battle he moves in circular motions as if he is a leaf floating on the wind, this makes him more difficult to hit. He can use his glider as a Bo, long staff, to; slash, swing, stab, vault, block, or parry.

Talents:
Liu enjoys surfing on Whale Tail Island. Being out on the water helps him relax and feel close to nature. He uses a wooden board and sometimes his glider if he wants to do flips. He met a younger water tribe boy named Siku on the Island and they have become good friends.

Flaws:
As a monk, Liu is very spiritual. He believes all life is sacred and therefore he strives for peace and non-violence. He is skilled at dodging and blocking attacks. He would only fight when it was absolutely necessary. He would rather die than take a life, even if it was an enemy.

Liu is unable to open his the Third Chakra which is located in the stomach. It is blocked by shame. He wishes he had trained harder when he was younger and is ashamed that he is not yet a master. He believes he could have saved his sky bison, Kong, if he had been more skilled.

History:

Liu was born to two air nomads. He never knew his parents because he was immediately given to the Monks to be raised. He grew up in the Southern Air Temple and was taught by Monk Gyatso. He learned quickly but he was by no means a prodigy. This didn’t bother Liu who was a gentle soul and despised violence in any form. He was given a young sky bison who he named Kong.

As a teenager Liu would wander from the temple. He and Kong traveled many places. One day the small bison was attacked by a boar-q-pine. The young Monk was able to drive the beast away, but not in time to save his furry companion. This was around the same time that Avatar Roku died. Liu felt ashamed that he hadn’t trained harder and was unable to save Kong. He began training vigorously.

Recently, a young boy from his temple was named the Avatar. The twelve year old boy had already become a master. This caused Liu to feel more shame that he wasn’t a prodigy. He trains hard every day but often travels to nearby Whale Tail Island to escape the pressure.

Personality:

Liu is very good natured and sensitive. He hates violence and killing. However, he is overprotective of his friends and the other monks. He is willing to fight defensively. He has a good sense of humor and is generally ready to meet people. He has a great work ethic and is willing to help in any way he can.
