Wei Recruited me
Name:
Cheng Sung
Age:
15
Gender: Male
Nation: Earth Kingdom
Physical Appearance: Cheng has short brown hair and a scar across the bridge of his nose. He's average height for his age, and a bit on the muscular side. He wears old clothes, one's he finds just lying around, because he doesn't have the means to get new ones. Cheng's hands are rugged from hard labor, the only thing he can do to make money so he can eat.
Equipment: Cheng is poor, and doesn't like to carry much. He has a large backpack that he carries around the essentials; a bed roll, cookware, food, and the tools necessary to build a fire (Flint and steel, occasionally matches). He also carries a canteen on a sling across his chest, like one would carry a messenger bag. Other than the occasional branch he might grab to use as a walking stick every now and then, he doesn't carry anything else other than the clothes on his back.
Combat Skills: Cheng is an amateur Earthbender. He was taught when he was younger by his father, but since his death there has been no further instruction. Sometimes he might whip up a new trick to help him out, but otherwise, his skills and knowledge is very elementary. He never sought out a master when he was living in orphanage after orphanage, and he rarely practiced his bending, so some of his skills had to be relearned when he left his last orphanage.
Living in group homes and under foster care, Cheng picked up a few things about hand to hand combat. After all, when you don't want to crush the other kids under a boulder twice their size, you have to find another way to defend yourself. He knows a little bit about fighting, but not enough to win any titles or anything like that.
Talents: Cheng is an excellent problem solver, a talent that reaches far back into his childhood. He's a natural born thinker, when he doesn't get ahead of himself that is. He loves a good puzzle, though the solutions are often kept to himself. He's also a good listener, but not by choice.
Flaws: Cheng hasn't spoken a word to another living soul since the death of his parents. On top of that, he's very hot-headed with a short temper. Part of this might be because he feels misunderstood by the world around him, the one he refuses to communicate with. He feels somewhat to blame for his parents death, as though he could have made a difference. Throughout his time in foster care, he also developed a total lack of respect for authority.
History: Cheng, meaning accomplished, was a talented young boy with a nice life planned out for him by his caring parents. He was to go off to school to become a Military Leader when he came of age, and found a good deal of pride in knowing he was well on the way of doing so. However, on the month of his ninth birthday, Cheng's family home in the mountains was attacked by a mysterious lunatic who'd somehow managed to tame Catgators from the swamplands in the valley below.
Cheng was shoo'd away from his father's side, where he planned to defend their home alongside his greatest hero. From the treeline on the edge of their property, eight year old Cheng watched as the Catgators tore his father and mother to pieces. The screams were so unbearable, neighbors came from miles around to see what had caused them. Luckily, some of the closest neighbors had arrived in time to apprehend the crazed Catgator handler, taking him off the the city for trial, and inevitable hanging.
With no living relatives except a convict uncle, Cheng was put into an orphanage in a nearby town. There he stayed only six months before being shoved off to a larger home in a bigger city. Here he got into trouble with local guards, fighting with them constantly and earning his first scar. A nice and noticeable one, right across the bridge of his nose. When he attacked the chief of the town guard, the elder man gave him a good cross to the face, his gauntlet gashing young Cheng's face. The wound healed, but the scar never faded. He blames it on the corrupt state of the world that he lives in, and the guards who hold the so called power.
Personality: Friendly to strangers that aren't abundantly rude or obnoxious, Cheng usually was quick to make friends. However, the last few years he was in foster care, he started to find less and less people willing to be friends with a mute. No amount of violence phases him anymore, he's seen the most gruesome thing he could imagine. His short temper might get the best of him sometimes, but if you're not a total ass to him, you'll get along just fine.
