Name:Ren Wu
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Nation: Air
Physical Appearance: Ren has short, straight black hair that hangs down to her shoulders. She usually lets her hair hang loose, but will occasionally put her hair into a very short ponytail, provided she can find something to tie it in place with. She is tall, but not too much above the average height for her age. Her hands are covered in small scratches from her pet hermit crab.
Ren still wears the clothes she had to wear when she was learning airbending, but occasionally she'll switch to whatever other clothes are available. The clothes she usually wears consist of the shirt-like robe that she wore during training, but she cut it to waist length to move more easily. She also kept the orange shawl for gliding, belt-like wrap, and brown pants, but got rid of the red boots in favor for ankle shoes that didn't lock her knees in place.
Equipment: She has a hollow shell painted with patterns of leaves which she uses to help her concentrate gusts of wind. She doesn't use it casually though, only during a serious confrontation. Otherwise, she just practices without help of her shell. Occasionally she has to hide it from Maskor so he doesn't start living in it. She also has a stick that has many dents in it that she primarily uses to save people from dangerous hermit crab attacks and a bag to carry around her things, but that is less significant. Also on a less significant note, she always carries around paints for random brain farts of creativity.
Combat Skills: Ren isn't very good at bending, but it's because she isn't a quick learner. She knows enough to hold her own in a battle against someone else without her shell, at least for five minutes. After that it's fight or flight. Her skills are limited to small gusts of wind or, very VERY VERY rarely, she can send knife-like slashes through the air. If she does have her shell, she can do damage. Not to mention Ma-I swear I talk about this hermit crab more than Ren. Anyway, she uses Maskor as a second weapon, tossing him at her opponent's faces to pick him off later.
Talents: Ren absolutely adores painting, using whatever she can find to make interesting pattern on whatever she can paint. For example, Maskor's shells. She's good at painting, but not good enough to get art put in a museum or any of that jazz, as It's more of a hobby for her than anything else. She's been painting since she was eight. She also loves to watch clouds and anything that flies, making doodles of them on what she can if she doesn't have her sketchbook.
Flaws: Ren's heart easily melts to pieces if you can tell her a convincing enough sob story, making her forget why she wanted to kill you or harm you in any way. She also tends to like to go the most difficult way, causing her to get injured or worse if she doesn't listen to others warnings.
History: Ren was born an only child on the last day of autumn and was raised by her mother for the first year of her life, and after that she was sent off to be taught how to bend by the monks. She never really got the hang of it though, and no matter how much she practiced it was too difficult for her. When she was eight, she stopped paying attention to things everyone said and started sneaking off to paint. Her skill in painting came quickly because she kept finding ways to sneak out after they restricted her original routes. She didn't really make much friends, but that was because she preferred to be alone.The last child that followed her was never seen again.
When she was fifteen, she left to explore and move around by herself and explore the world without other people's guidance. Her first trip was to the northern air temple, and while she was there, a hermit crab nearly broke her finger. She kept it as a pet. Funny how the world works, eh? She's currently traveling to Ba Sing Se, because it's the closest thing she'd like to visit. (Based off of this map: [X])
Personality: Ren is smart, but she only learns well when she's teaching herself. The only exception to that rule is helpful tips. She likes to stay moving, and finds it difficult and dangerous to stay still. She's a very cautious person, although that may clash with her "don't stay still" rule. If anything, she'll stop moving if it's as dangerous to move as it is to stay still. She hates when other people help her with a job or anything else without her permission.
Pet: Ren owns a hermit crab who she affectionately named Maskor. Maskor wasn't much different from other hermit crabs in the Northern Air Temple, but something about him appealed to her. The only thing that could distinguish him were the painted shells that Ren made for him once he outgrew his old ones. He has a slightly stronger claw strength, mostly because of attacking the furniture which he deemed 'dangerous'. He's clumsy, so by the time he needs to shed his shell it's too brittle for other hermit crabs to move into. This makes him many enemies in the tiny hermit crab community. Maskor is very stubborn, stubborn enough to cling to a person's nose for a day if thrown directly st the person's face. The only thing that can get him off is a stick of wood or a chair leg. He always wants to participate in everything, but sometimes does more bad than good.
Writing Sample: Ren grinned as she managed to pull off the small gust of wind. Yes, she needed practice, but a small gust of wind was progress anyway. It would be a while until she mastered everything, if she would, but she was on the way. "You see that, Maskor? I finally pulled it off without pausing in the middle!" She grinned even wider as the small hermit crab scuttled across her feet, looking up at her and clicking his claws.
I hope I did this correctly. ;w;
