Name: Norbu
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Nation: Air Nomad
Physical Appearance: Norbu has fair skin and light brown hair that is cut very short. His eyes are a deep shade of grey-blue with deep shadowy bags underneath them. He stands at an average height of about five foot seven, and has an overall good posture. His build is sleek and agile, a little bit to gaunt to be considered average. His jaw line is also very refined and he has brown goatee. Unlike most airbenders of his age he has no tattoos because he never mastered the art.
Norbu wears a faded hood made from burlap and one of several veils on his face that match the color of the nation he is traveling in. The burlap hood is part of a larger burlap undergarmet that spans down below his knees. Over the burlap garment he wears a jacket that isn't fastened by any buttons. On his waist he also has a large brown leather utility belt that he wears that is fool of various tools and small weapons. Lining the inside of the dark green jacket is a plethora of knifes including his two dagger-axe's.
Equipment: Norbu poses two dagger-axe; small dagger like blades that have an another small blade protruding our of the handle. The dagger end is predominantly used for slashing movements, while the "axe" end of the blades are used for delivering quick piercing jabs. The daggers are made from expensive Fire Nation steel that he is very proud to own.
Norbu also carries several odds and ends. He has a face wrap of every national color (Red, Blue, Green, and Orange) as well as different types of jewelry that he carries that have symbols of different National Symbols on them. He has a black whistle that is inaudible to the human ear that can call fourth his bison companion. His Bison itself carries various rare goods to include gems, collectible artwork, ancient artifacts, and a few various small animals that are caged within the saddle at any given time.
Combat Skills: Norbu is not very good at air bending, but he is able to use it to perform spectacular jumps and to add some extra 'oomph' to his throwing techniques. He knows hot to use a glider but hasn't held onto one for many years, preferring to use his flying bison for air travel. Norbu has a large collection of small knives and darts that line his coat pocket, which he throws at enemies. He is also proficient in the use of the dagger-axe, using them in pairs to cut enemies quickly and simply.
Talents: Norbu knows many secrets, he has a network of informants throughout the four nations who keep him up to date on world politics. He is more aware than others about the military build up of the Fire Nation. He often hears secrets of sacred or forgotten places that he exploits for his own personnel gain. He has also tried to get involved in spirit world events, but hasn't had any luck.
Norbu is quite the dungeoneer, he knows how to find traps and how to find secret rooms and passages with ease. These skills have become second nature to him as he spent many years raiding tombs, ruins, and other sacred places. He steps carefully and uses his limited air bending skills to stay light on his feet and avoid dangers. Often times he can set off traps with a simple gust of wind.
Most importantly, Norbu know how to make money. He uses his sky bison to search the world for things that are extremely rare. He can take mundane animals in one nation and sell them to another for an absorbent amount, and he is also often hired to recover lost items. Norbu also sells information to anyone, for the right price.
Flaws: Norbu has a reputation as a slippery snake, and many do not wish to associate with him. He has been banished from the air temples and is wanted in Ba Sing Se by the Dai Li for alleged spying for the Fire Nation. Nobody really likes Norbu, but many have seen his set of skills as a boon. Norbu is typically forced to make his relationships with criminals and other deviants, which can sometimes play against him as well. He can usually only feel at ease on the frontier or in lands that he isn't known well such as the Southern Water Tribe.
History: Norbu began his life as an air nomad monk who never really knew his parents because they were separated at a time before he could remember. As a young child Norbu was always the bookish type, often neglecting his studies of air bending for that of the pursuit of knowledge. Only ever mastering the basics, his pursuits of knowledge seemed to be all he ever cared about. Making friends didn't come easily for young Norbu, he was seen as an odd child who was withdrawn from his peers.
As a teenager he became a scribe for one of the elders of the southern air temple. He spent much more time developing his reading and writing skills than he ever did practicing air bending. His peers were more friendly towards him at this time, having grown more mature, and Norbu began to feel like less of an outcast. Many often came to him with questions about the different nations before they would leave on journeys.
In his early adulthood Norbu had become one of the most intellectual members of his society, but the monks considered his worldly knowledge to be a burden rather than a boon. Telling him that he should be more concerned about inner wisdom and tranquility, the young monk grew apart from the elders of his tribe as well as his peers.
He left the Southern Air Temple by the time he was twenty two, and over time his perspectives began to shift. He began to view the Air Nomad way as a fools wisdom and the true way to happiness was through the acquisition of hard knowledge. Over time he began to accept other worldly things such as wealth and politics. By the time he was twenty five Norbu had become a merchant and was building a vast network of informants across the other three nations, but still visited his home in the Southern Ait Temple. Afraid that he would be a negative influence on the children, Norbu was asked to not return to any air temple until he changed his ways.
Rather than seeking redemption, Norbu pushed himself further away. He felt forsaken by his own people because of his beliefs and he felt as if he was being persecuted. To this day Norbu harbos a grudge against the Air Nomads, and he is the complete opposite of what an air nomad should represent.
Personality: Norbu is very withdrawn and has a sharp wit about him, and he is known to stare people down with an icy glare if they rub him the wrong way. He is very sociable and sometimes even viewed as a kindly person because he is known to buy someone in need in exchange for information. He isn't extremely charming, but he has enough money to get lips flowing out tons of little secrets. Norbu seems to be obsessed with collecting information, but his motives are never quite clear. Within his pack he has diagram after diagram of names and places that he has linked together. He seems to never form personal relationships with anyone, but has many associates for whom he respects. Unlike other Air Nomads, Norbu eats meat because he no longer cares about tradition.
Pet: Bo is a male flying Bison that Norbu took as his own when they were both pups. Unlike most other flying Bison, Bo was a dark shade of brown with a bright white arrow (he basically had an inverted fur pattern). The little Bison was considered strange by most of the other Air Nomads but Norbu thought that he was adorable. Bo is a much larger Bison than normal, having grown large over twenty five years of growth.
Like other Flying Bison, Bo is usefull for carrying passengers in supplies through the air. Because he is such a massive beast he can also be used to pull open ancient sealed doors by attaching a rope to the handle. In combat Bo isn't afraid to bite or crush an opponent under his feet.
Bo is mostly an aloof bison but is also very protective of his master. He spends most of his time either flying around or resting on the ground and serving as a market stall. He loves Nobu though, because Nobu feeds him very well and they have been together since he was just a wee little bison. If Bo could talk he would tell you of how he misses the way things used to be.
Bo is getting rather old and he can't fly to fast, and it dosn't help that Nobu keeps his saddle loaded with lots of goods. One of his six legs were injured over the years and it never fully healed, and so he isn't very good on his feet. Bo can also get very aggressive if he senses that Norbu is uncomfortable, even about something stupid, and he is very hard to calm down. He also seems to be missing patches of fur here and there that makes him look kind of gross.

On the outskirts of the large imposing walls of Omashu was a large moat that was meant to protect the city from invasions. At the base of the moat, two men stood near a large and imposing bison with dark mottled fur. One of the men appeared to be a guard from Omashu, with a large circular green helmet and a green and tunic with golden accents. The other was a hooded man with a green veil covering his mouth, in his hand he held a parchment and an ink quill.
"So," the hooded man said. "what can you tell me about Omashu's mail system?" he asked.
"Well basically sir, we use earth bending to push mail upwards towards the top of the city, and gravity to bring mail down." The Earth Bender replied nervously, looking up towards the city keeping a lookout for guards.
"Yes, yes, I already knew that friend." Norbu replied grimly. "I tell you what, why don't you help me fill out my diagram here and i'll tell you what I know about your missing daughter." he said to the guard as he handed him a pretty realistic depiction of Omashu from a top down perspective. "Label where the mail system's earth benders work at and where the mail is sorted...."
The man quickly began inscribing down the locations that Noru had asked for. He finished and handed back the diagram to the hooded man.
"Very good...." Norbu replied. "Your daughter wasn't kidnapped by bandits, she ran off with her boy friend to go get married. I could tell you were, but I would need a little more information about the city guard..."
The guard looked shaken, and a maybe a little angry, but he started to spill his guts about the changing of the guard and where the guards were housed at...
