Wei stood and laughed in surprise as he had felt the sky bison's large tongue lick him, he hadn't expected to be thanked quire like that but he knew that Appa was sincere. The boy wiped his cheek slightly, it was a bit coated in saliva but he was cheerful that he more or less managed to gain the affection of the massive creature, he smiled and placed a hand on Appa's forehead, patting softly.
"You're welcome! It's just good to have new friends around to enjoy this with."
The young earth bender sat on the opposite end of the fire [it that he crafted out of rocks, he watched as Aang thought about how to approach or start the fire. After a few moments, the air bender began to strike the flint rock with the back of the still blade, the sound was oddly comforting to Wei, it usually meant a fire would be made soon and during his travels and time alone in the wilderness, fire meant everything. The boy watched in silent admiration, he knew Aang had never started a fire before and this certainly was Wei's first time teaching someone else how they could save themselves if the need arose, finding someone as eager as he to learn was truly refreshing.
The sound of the metal scraping against stone was heard once more and this time with enough force that Wei knew it would make a good amount of sparks. The small red embers shot out from under the blade and into the fire pit, the earth bender leaned forward and watched as they had landed on the piece of cactus limb, causing it to smolder, producing smoke but not yet a flame. Wei smiled and looked up, he laughed as he saw Aang's eyes closed, the earth bender sat back and began to blow a small current of air onto the smoldering patches, to try and get them to ignite into a massive campfire.
"Good job Aang! You did it, we have a fire going! Now we need to keep feeding it some air, little by little you can help it grow, just be gentle to not blow it out."
